This e-learning module will help anyone caring for a person who has had a stroke reduce the risk of developing serious complications with the feet.
Do you find that your staff lacks a basic understanding of foot pathology and issues associated with a stroke may be going unnoticed? Are they left untreated or incorrectly treated due to poor diagnosis? Are residents experiencing falls or sore feet due to inappropriate footwear?

Who should use this e-learning module?
You and your staff should use this e-learning module if you feel an improved understanding of the foot and cerebrovascular accidents would benefit residents.
The sites we have provided this training for have reported a better awareness of carers towards foot problems. This has therefore enabled previously unidentified problems to be observed at the crucial early stage of development. The footwear education included in this training session has also assisted in the purchase of correct shoes to aid mobility, comfort and to reduce foot pathology.
This e-learning module does not cover all possible ailments associated with a stroke; however, it will provide a valuable core understanding for staff to provide a higher level of care.
It is set out in an easy to follow format which will benefit all levels of staff. It is important for staff to understand and appreciate that correct foot care following a stroke is vital because it can greatly impact quality of life if neglected.
