The sites we have provided this training for have reported a better awareness of swallowing difficulties and choking episodes in their residents. This has therefore enabled previously unidentified problems to be observed at the crucial early stage of development. The choking procedure education included in this training has also assisted the care staff to perform safe choking strategies and potentially save lives.
The training does not cover all possible ailments associated with dysphagia, however it will provide a valuable core understanding for staff to provide a higher level of care.
It is set out in an easy to follow format which benefits all levels of staff. It is important for staff to understand and appreciate that an understanding of dysphagia and choking episodes is vital to prevent serious consequences or even death!
