How you can minimise injuries from falls of your residents by using hip protectors.
Have any of your residents sustained injuries following a fall? Do you have multiple residents at your facility who are at risk of falls? You’re not alone! According to recent statistics, 15% of elderly people who suffer a hip fracture die within one year and 50% are unable to walk again.
That is why W&L has created this training on the benefits of hip protectors to prevent injury.

Who should do this training?
You should use this training if you work in an aged care facility, work with elderly clients or care for an elderly family member.
This training session provides care staff with a concise reference on hip protectors.
The sites we have provided this training for have reported a reduced incidence of injury from falls and the devastating effects a hip fracture can have on a client.
The education session does not cover all strategies to reduce injury from falls, however it will provide a value core understanding for staff to provide a higher level of care. It is set out in an easy to follow format which benefits all levels of staff. It is important for staff to understand and appreciate the benefits of hip protectors to prevent hip fractures and other serious consequences.
