OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS (OT’S) CAN HELP MAXIMISE ACFI COMPLEX HEALTH CLAIMS
- Many Complex Health Care directives, and in some cases performing the procedures themselves, requires an allied health professional
Occupational Therapists are allied health professionals with some of their core services including:
- Pain management
- Mobility and transfer assessments
- Prescribing specialised equipment, seating and skin integrity management
- Functional task assessments
- Mental health assessments and interventions
W&L Occupational Therapists receive specialised training in the ACFI and are often used in interventions associated with pain management (Q12 part 3, 4a and 4b), complex skin integrity management (Q12 part 5) and management of arthritic joints/oedema (Q12 part 12)
FINDING YOU DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO DO YOUR ACFI SUBMISSIONS AND RE-APPRAISALS?
As well as providing directives and performing interventions within the Complex Health Care domain Occupational Therapists are also a valuable tool in assisting the ADL functional assessment process (e.g. showering and mobility assessments) in addition to the cognitive skills in the BEH’s domain (e.g. performing the PAS and Cornell Scale for depression assessments)
